D15 / D20 High-Strength Tie Rods

Produced on CNC thread-rolling lines for burr-free threads and consistent geometry. DW15 (15mm root / 17mm outer thread, 7.5mm pitch) carries approximately 150 kN allowable tension, while Rd20 reaches approximately 230 kN. Threads follow DIN 976, A193 B7 or GB/T 15389; materials range from Q235 to 45#, 40Cr and 20MnTiB with plain, electro-galvanized, hot-dip galvanized or Dacromet finishes.

Specifications

  • DW15 and Rd20 all-thread bars
  • D15 ≈150 kN / D20 ≈230 kN allowable tension
  • Length 200–9000mm, cut to length
  • Q235 / 45# / 40Cr / 20MnTiB
  • DIN 976 / A193 B7 / GB/T 15389 threads

Material Grades Explained

GradeNotes
Q235Plain carbon steel. Economic option for light and medium formwork loads. Not heat treated.
45#Medium carbon steel. The standard formwork tie rod grade in China; quenchable to class 8.8.
40CrAlloy steel. Higher hardenability and better fatigue performance than 45#; used where repeated reuse matters.
Class 10.9 boltQuenched and tempered alloy steel bolt used in the climbing cone set. Not electroplated without a documented baking cycle.
QT450-10Ductile (nodular) iron with 450 MPa tensile and 10% elongation. Used for sleeves and embedded plates where toughness and castability matter.
HRB400Hot-rolled ribbed bar (threaded steel) to Chinese standard. Used for embedded foot bolts; good bond with concrete.

Procurement Guide

  • Confirm rod diameter and required load class with your structural engineer
  • Match cone, sleeve and wing nut threads to the rod before ordering
  • Request mill certificates (EN 10204 3.1) for structural applications
  • For outdoor or aggressive environments, specify HDG 45–85µm or Dacromet

D15 / D20 High-Strength Tie Rods — Answers for Engineers and Buyers

Standard diameters cover D15 and D20, with bar length cut to the wall thickness plus the required allowance for nuts, plates and walers. Non-standard diameters and lengths can be produced to drawing.
