Wooden Beam Claw

Ductile iron (QT450-10) claw with spring-loaded toothed hook grips the 80mm H20 beam flange while the steel body ties the beam to the panel or waling. No tools required — hook, close and wedge-lock. Reusable, low panel damage and compatible with standard H20 timber beams and Hünnebeck-style wall formwork.

Specifications

  • Fits H20 beam flange (80mm)
  • QT450-10 ductile iron hook
  • Spring-loaded toothed grip
  • No-tool wedge lock

Material Grades Explained

GradeNotes
Q235Plain carbon steel. Economic option for light and medium formwork loads. Not heat treated.
45#Medium carbon steel. The standard formwork tie rod grade in China; quenchable to class 8.8.
40CrAlloy steel. Higher hardenability and better fatigue performance than 45#; used where repeated reuse matters.
Class 10.9 boltQuenched and tempered alloy steel bolt used in the climbing cone set. Not electroplated without a documented baking cycle.
QT450-10Ductile (nodular) iron with 450 MPa tensile and 10% elongation. Used for sleeves and embedded plates where toughness and castability matter.
HRB400Hot-rolled ribbed bar (threaded steel) to Chinese standard. Used for embedded foot bolts; good bond with concrete.

Procurement Guide

  • Confirm beam flange width (80mm standard H20) before ordering
  • Check panel hole spacing matches your claw layout
  • Order spares for on-site loss — claws are lightweight
  • For outdoor sites, request HDG or higher zinc class

Technical FAQ

Wooden Beam Claw — Answers for Engineers and Buyers

A formwork tie rod is a high-strength threaded bar that, together with nuts, anchor plates and walers, holds formwork panels against the lateral pressure of fresh concrete. It passes through the wall section and is either fully recovered after stripping (through-tie used with a sleeve) or permanently embedded (lost-end / water-stop type).
